HymnMeter: LM with Alleluias
This hymn can be sung to the tune used for
All Creatures of Our God and King

Come, Holy Spirit, as a fire;
Bright deeds of charity inspire.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Most holy sanctifying flame,
Kindle the earth in Jesus’ Name.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Psalm 11997-104

If you love me, you will keep my commandments. (Jn 14:15)

The commandments are summed up in the command to love. Love is not mere sentiment. Love requires that we refrain from everything that would harm another, and choose to do whatever will serve the other person’s true well-being.

Lord, how I love your law!
It is ever in my mind.
Your command makes me wiser than my foes;
for it is mine for ever.

I have more insight than all who teach me
for I ponder your will.
I have more understanding than the old
for I keep your precepts.

I turn my feet from evil paths
to obey your word.
I have not turned away from your decrees;
you yourself have taught me.

Your promise is sweeter to my taste
than honey in the mouth.
I gain understanding from your precepts;
I hate the ways of falsehood.

Glory to the Father….

Word of God Leviticus 19:17-18

You shall not bear hatred for your brother in your heart. Though you may have to reprove your fellow man, do not incur sin because of him. Take no revenge and cherish no grudge against your fellow countrymen. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

Love does no evil to the neighbor;
hence, love is the fulfillment of the law. (Rom 13:10)

Canticle of Mary(Text, back cover A)

I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. (Jn 13:34)

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory to the Father…

Intercessions

With love for the God who has so loved us, we pray:

R/MTeach us your ways, O Lord!

You made us in your image:
– reveal your love to the world through our love for one another. R/

You showed the depth of your love in the mystery of the cross:
– grant us the wisdom to seek forgiveness rather than vengeance. R/

You taught us that all peoples are neighbors:
– remove all the false boundaries that set limits to our love. R/

Personal intentions

Our Father….

May Christ dwell in our hearts through faith, and may charity be the root and foundation of our life. Amen. (cf. Eph 3:17)

Medieval Antiphon

Rejoice, O Mother of God, O Virgin Immaculate;
rejoice, you who received joy from an angel;
rejoice, you who bore the glory of the light everlasting;
rejoice, O Mother, rejoice,
O holy Virgin Mother of God;
you alone a maiden Mother,
all creation praises you, the Mother of light;
may you be for us, we beseech you,
a perpetual intercessor.

Translated by James Monti

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;
vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae.
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia ergo, advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos
ad nos converte.
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy,
our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To you do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve.
To you do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, O most gracious advocate,
your eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile
show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,
R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Alma Redemptoris Mater, quae pervia caeli
porta manes, et stella maris, succurre cadenti,
surgere qui curat, populo: tu quae genuisti,
natura mirante, tuum sanctum Genitorem,
Virgo prius ac posterius, Gabrielis ab ore
sumens illud Ave, peccatorum miserere.

Loving mother of the Redeemer,
gate of heaven, star of the sea,
assist your people who have fallen yet strive
to rise again.
To the wonderment of nature you bore your Creator,
yet remained a virgin after as before.
You who received Gabriel’s joyful greeting,
have pity on us, poor sinners.

V/ Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,
R/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
